What stitches did we use?
The pattern level is intermediate, but we are sure that with the help of our video tutorials you will succeed even if you are a beginner!
The stitches used are:
- Chain (ch), do you remember how to do it? Here our blog post!
- Slip Stitch (slst), for a review look here!
- Double Crochet/Single Crochet (dc/sc), look at the video tutorial on our YouTube channel
- Decreasing (dec.)
A few measures before starting:
Everything is ready to start, just missing a sample so as to make sure you get the same result. In a 10×10 cm square, 11 m.b. x 12 rows.
The finished bag instead will measure approximately 30 cm of base x 42 cm of height (excluding the shoulder straps).
Free Pattern to make your crochet bag:
This bag consists of various parts that are then sewn together:
- Front and back panels
- Shoulder Straps
- Side Parts
Front and Back panels of the crochet bag (colors Black/Ecru):
The front and back panels are made of a series of triangles, that will be joined together.
For this reason, repate the following instructions 12 times: 6 times in Black color, 6 times in Ecru color, so as to obtain as many triangles.
- Ch 16
- Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in the next 14 st(s), ch 1, turn [15 sc(s)]
- Row 2: sc in the next 13 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [14 sc(s)]
- Row 3: dec, sc in the next 12 st(s), ch 1, turn [13 sc(s)]
- Row 4: sc in the next 11 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [12 sc(s)]
- Row 5: dec, sc in the next 10 st(s), ch 1, turn [11 sc(s)]
- Row 6: sc in the next 9 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [10 sc(s)]
Proceed in this way, decreasing at each row:
- Row 7: dec, sc in the next 8 st(s), ch 1, turn [9 sc(s)]
- Row 8: sc in the next 7 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [8 sc(s)]
- Row 9: dec, sc in the next 6 st(s), ch 1, turn [7 sc(s)]
- Row 10: sc in the next 5 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [6 sc(s)]
Decrease again!
- Row 11: dec, sc in the next 4 st(s), ch 1, turn [5 sc(s)]
- Row 12: sc in the next 3 st(s), dec, ch 1, turn [4 sc(s)]
- Row 13: dec, sc in the next 2 st(s), ch 1, turn [3 sc(s)]
- Row 14: sc in the next st, dec, ch 1, turn [2 sc(s)]
- Row 15: dec, ch 1, cut off the yarn [1 sc]
Assembly:
Once all 12 triangles have been made, they must be assembled to form squares. Then, place 2 triangles (one ecru and one black), so as to form a square.
Make sure the foundation chain is at the top and at the bottom of your square: it will help in the seam. Then sew the triangles together along the diagonal.
Repeat the procedure for the other triangles: 6 squares will be obtained.
Join them together: 3 for the front panel, 3 for the back panel.
Shoulder Straps (color Corn):
Repeat the following instructions twice, to make both the shoulder straps.
- Ch 6
- Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in the next 4 chains, ch 1 turn
- Rows 2-134: sc in the next 5 st(s), ch 1, turn
- Row 135: sc in the next 5 st(s), ch 1, cut off the yarn
Side parts (colore Perla):
Taking one of your long straps, place a stitch marker on the 45th row from the beginning and a stitch marker on the 45th row from the end. You will work on the sides of the strap.
- Row 1: Starting at the first row, work 45 sc(s) – until you reach your stitch marker, ch 1, turn
- Rows 2-4: sc in the next 45 st(s), ch 1, turn
- Row 5: sc in the next 45 st(s), ch 1, cut off the yarn
On the other side:
- Row 1: starting at the stitch marker, work 45 sc(s) until you reach the first row, ch 1, turn
- Rows 2-4: sc in the next 45 st(s), ch 1, turn
- Row 5: sc in the next 45 st(s), ch 1, cut off the yarn
Assembly:
Now take your strap and place both ends on the sides of your squares. Sew on both sides.
At this point, repeat the procedure with the second shoulder strap, then using the second group of squares.
Sew both panels together on the sides and at the bottom using your needle. Weave in all loose ends.
Now your Crochet Bag in Color Blocks is ready!
