WHEAT EAR RIB STITCH: KNITTING TUTORIAL
The Wheat Ear Rib Stitch: a new elegant and sophisticated knit stitch that you have to add to your collection!
This is a perfect knit stitch to add depth and a unique touch to any project.
The Wheat Ear Rib Stitch creates a three-dimensional design made by crossing couples of stitches at every row. The result is a series of vertical ribs that remind of wheat ears. This design can be adapted to create ribs of different widths. It is therefore very versatile for various projects, from clothing to home accessories.
For the swatch you see in the picture, we used:

Wheat Ear Rib Stitch: knitting tips
When trying to knit in Wheat Ear Rib Stitch, we recommend paying attention to:
- Yarn choice: the Wheat Ear Stitch looks its best when worked using yarns that provide good stitch definition. Smooth and twisted yarns emphasize the crossed pattern, while more voluminous yarns will give a more rustic and cozy look.
- Work tension: keeping an even tension is essential to obtain a smooth and well-defined design. Practice with a sample before starting your main project to make sure the tension is correct.
- Needles: to make each crossing easier, try using knitting needles with a well-sharpened and not too-rounded tip.
