Rosebud Eyelet Stitch

Rosebud Eyelet Stitch: can you think of a spring-ier knitting stitch? 😀

To knit this stitch, it might be useful to learn how to knit the Bobble Stitch, of which you can find our tutorial here, as well as many others’ on Bettaknit’s YouTube channel. Each rosebud is made by working 5 stitches into the same stitch, turning your work to purl them straight away, and turning the work again on the right side to cast them off and continue knitting.

You’ve actually already seen a similar technique knitting the Raspberry Stitch (if you missed it, click here).

The Rosebud Eyelet Stitch is an original knitting stitch that is perfect for your spring projects. For this stitch, you will need to know how to make the Bobble Stitch: each rosebud is made by working 5 stitches into the same stitch, turning your work to purl them straight away, and turning the work again on the right side to cast them off and continue knitting.

To knit this swatch, we used Soy Cotton yarn (50% Soy Fiber and 50% Organic Cotton, more about it here) in Pink, and 4 mm (US 6) Beechwood Knitting Needles.

Let’s begin!

Row 19:

Repeat Rows 1 – 20 until your piece is the length your project requires.

To knit 5 stitches into 1, you will have to repeat the steps to knit and yarn over as usual, but do not let the stitch you are working drop off the left needle. Instead, continue working inserting the right needle into the loop of the same stitch.

The “yarn over, 1 SKP” and “knit 2 stitches together, yarn over” patterns will create small decorative eyelets under the rosebuds.
