Fancy Knitting Stitch: Drop Stitch

The best part about this knitting stitch? Projects grow faster! 😎 If you joined the lazy knitters club, the Drop Stitch is definitely for you!

The Drop Stitch (or Elongated Stitch) is an easy knitting stitch you can make by inserting the right needle into each stitch and wrap the yarn around the needle more than once, before dropping the stitch off the left needle. In the following row, each stitch is unraveled to create a "fringe" effect.

The swatch you see in the picture has been made using size 10 mm / US 15 Beechwood Knitting Needles (you can choose the right needle size adjusting to your yarn and tension) and BettaKnit’s Fettuccine, a pure cotton tape yarn, in the color Peach 🍑

Drop Stitch Chart

The Drop Knitting Stitch Chart is an easy chart to follow. You need to know the knitting basics, that are knit and purl stitches, and the elongated stitch, which is made as a normal knit or purl stitch, but wrapping the yarn multiple times around the needle.

This is the perfect stitch for summer and to transition into seasons, or for whenever you need to cover up a bit with shawls and light cardis, without ever going out of style! 😄
