The Spider Web Stitch is an easy and fun crochet stitch, perfect for your fall and Halloween season crochet projects. It is a lace crochet stitch that you can try if you already know the crochet basics. The final result is a spider web-like effect, created by alternating single crochet groups that are linked together by chain rows.

How to crochet the Spider Web Stitch

Chain a multiple of 10 + 1 stitches.

Round 1:
  • Ch. 1 (it replaces the 1st sc.), skip 2 ch. from the hook, *1 sc. in the following ch., 3 ch., skip 2 cat., 1 sc. in each of the following 3 ch., 3 ch., skip 2 cat., 1 sc. in each of the following 2 ch.*.

Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.

Round 2:
  • Ch. 1 (it replaces the 1st sc.), 1 sc. in the following st., *1 sc. in the following arch, 3 ch., skip 1 sc., 1 dc. in the following st., 3 ch., 1 sc. in the following arch, 1 sc. in the following st.*.
  • ** 1 sc. in each of the following 2 sts., repeat the steps from * to *. **

Repeat from ** to ** until the end of the round, end with: 1 sc. in the st. at the beginning of the previous round.

Round 3:
  • Ch. 1 (it replaces the 1st sc.), *1 sc. in the following st., 3 ch., 1 sc. in the following arch, 1 sc. in the following dc., 1 sc. in the following arch, 3 ch., skip 1 sc., 1 sc. in each of the following 2 sts.*.

Repeat from * to * until the end of the round, end with: 1 sc. in the st. at the beginning of the previous round.

Round 4:

Spider Web Stitch Chart

The Spider Web Stitch Chart is an easy-level crochet chart that you can use to practise your chart reading. The spider web design is made on a multiple of 10 + 1 stitches and a repetition of 5 rows, using chain stitches, single crochet and double crochet stitches.
